History of Nambucca Dental Surgery

Up until 1974 there was no dental surgery operating in Nambucca Heads.

The nearest was Dr Milton Ulrick practicing in Macksville.

Dr Vic Bird, a university of Sydney graduate, started up his practice in Nambucca Heads after some years operating the travelling dental clinic which was a government operative on a railway carriage.

The first surgery location was at 1 Mann Street opposite the Catholic Church.

After three years (1978), Vic moved the practice to 6 Ridge Street, just down from the Police station

where the practice remained until 1994.

Dr Bird opened a satellite practice in Bowraville in 1982. Bowraville Dental Surgery, 58 High St,  telephone 65647246, "Your Local Dentist" In 1987 Dr Linda Piccin, a university of Qld graduate, joined Dr Bird as an associate and in August 1988 the practice at 6 Ridge street was purchased by Dr Piccin and Dr Bird retained the practice at Bowraville .

In 1994 the Nambucca dental Surgery was again moved as we had outgrown the premises- this time to it’s present location at 7 Sussex Street

Dr Samuel Martin purchased Nambucca Dental Surgery in November 2012. Dr Linda Piccin continues to work at the surgery. Dr Samuel Martin’s father Dr Harry Martin also works now in the surgery.
