Dr Michael Cahill

Dr Michael Cahill, an experienced dentist with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney (1978), has been practising dentistry since 1979.

In his professional practice, Dr Michael has a keen interest in general dentistry, enjoying the opportunity to enhance dental health and treat entire families. He also has a clinical enjoyment in endodontics, particularly root canal treatments, where he applies his meticulous attention to detail. Furthermore, his work in crowns and bridges reflects his dedication to improving both the aesthetics and functionality of his patients' smiles.

Outside the clinic, Michael leads an active and vibrant life. He is an avid sailor and snow skier, and enjoys exploring the country in his campervan. He and his wife Ann share a passion for rock and roll dancing, often found grooving to live music at various clubs, pubs, and festivals. His leisure activities also include reading, walking, and savouring a good cappuccino.

Claudia Ashdown

Claudia Ashdown, an accomplished Dental Hygienist, brings to Nambucca Dental Surgery a passion for oral health education and patient interaction. Originating from Queensland, Claudia embarked on her dental career as an assistant, later furthering her studies at RMIT University in Melbourne, where she completed her Advanced Diploma of Oral Health (Dental Hygiene) in 2017. Since then, Claudia has spent six successful years in the role of a Dental Hygienist, honing her skills and deepening her knowledge of oral health.

Claudia's passion for oral hygiene stems from the understanding that gum health significantly impacts overall health. With this in mind, she aims to not only treat but also educate and motivate her patients about the importance of good oral health habits. This dedication to proactive health care complements her hands-on nature, where the satisfaction of cleaning teeth and the lively chats with her patients support her enthusiasm for her profession.

Recently, Claudia, along with her husband and their one-year-old daughter Aurora, embraced a sea change, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city for the tranquillity of Nambucca Heads. This decision was influenced by the desire for a quieter lifestyle and the attraction of the beautiful coastal setting.

Away from the clinic, Claudia finds delight in immersing herself in quality moments with her family. She finds joy in uncovering the beauty of her new surroundings, from leisurely walks along the beach to the discovery of quaint eateries and bakeries in the area.
